Utomi Emerges APC Flagbearer For Delta State

Prof Pat Utomi, has been declared winner and candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2019 governorship election in Delta State.

Utomi emerged victorious in the Delta APC governorship primaries conducted by the Chief Cyril Ogodo-led factional State Working Committee of the party in Asaba.

Elder Favour Adibor, who acted as the returning officer, declared Utomi winner of the exercise which started on Sunday and ended in the early hours of Monday.

Of the 3, 755 votes cast by the delegates, Utomi emerged as the overwhelming winner with 2,486 votes to defeat three other aspirants for the Delta APC governorship ticket.

The former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Engr. Victor Ochei, accumulated 801 votes to come a distant second while Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a former National Deputy Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party polled 368 votes to occupy third position and Chief Great Ogboru came fourth with 106 votes.

The other factional party primary been conducted under the leadership of Prophet Jones Erue has also started counting delegates’ votes at the time of publishing this report.
