1. CBN keeps MPR at %14

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria at the end of its meeting on Tuesday, left the Monetary Policy Rate unchanged at 14 per cent.

The CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, announced the decision of the committee at the end of a two-day meeting held at the apex bank’s headquarters in Abuja.

2. Court nullifies impeachment of Eze Madumere as Imo deputy governor

A federal high court sitting in Owerri, on Tuesday, nullified the impeachment of Imo deputy governor Eze Madumere.

The embattled deputy governor was impeached by the state house of Assembly over allegations bothering on gross misconduct, but his impeachment has now been set aside by a court ruling.

3. Aisha Buhari’s ADC arrested for N2.5b fraud

Security operatives have arrested Sani Baba-Inna, Aide De Camp to Aisha, President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife over allegations of defrauding her to the tune of N2.5billion.

Baba-Inna, a chief superintendent of police, is accused of using Aisha Buhari’s name to obtain donations from politicians and business people and failing to remit same.

4. Abdulsalami Abubakar meets with INEC chairman over Osun re-run election

Nigeria’s former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, earlier today held a meeting with the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu ahead of Thursday’s Osun governorship re-run and the 2019 general elections.

Mr Abdulsalami, who is also the head of a peace committee while speaking in Abuja, said that the committee decided to interact with stakeholders following the way the polity is being heated up ahead of the 2019 elections.

5. APC NWC suspends Adamawa state executives

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has announced the suspension of its Adamawa state executives.

This move is coming few days to the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for this weekend.

6. NLC to begin nationwide strike on Thursday over minimum wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said it will proceed on a nationwide warning strike from Thursday September 27 over the failure of the Nigerian Government to implement new minimum wage.

The NLC had given the Federal government a 14-day ultimatum which will elapses today, September 26.

7. Lagos APC says Ambode and Sanwo-Olu would face primaries on Saturday

The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) of the All Progressives Congress, Lagos State, yesterday decided that the state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, and his two colleagues would be at the mercy of the primary contest scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 29.

With the decision of the GAC, the party denied Ambode the right of first refusal on the party’s ticket for the 2019 governorship election.

8. Gov. Shettima dissolves Borno state executive council

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has ordered the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council.

A statement issued in Maiduguri by the Secretary to the Borno Government, Alhaji Usman Jidda-Shuwa, directed all commissioners to handover to permanent secretaries in their respective ministries before Sept. 28.

9. DSS confirms arrest of Aisha Buhari’s ADC

The Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday detained Mr. Baba-Inna, who is the Aide De Camp, ADC, to the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari over an allegation of N2.5 billion fraud.

Spokesman for the DSS, Mr. Nnochirionye Afunanya, said the case was handed over to the agency by the Police authority.

10. APC picks Akpabio as consensus candidate for Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district

Senator Godswill Akpabio has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State for the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

His adoption follows a long meeting of the party elders at Obong Ntak, the country home of Chief Inibehe Okorie, another senatorial aspirant as disclosed by Anietie Ekong, Akpabio’s media aide.
