French coach Didier Deschamps, France’s World Cup winner in 2018, was today honored with the ‘Best’ award from FIFA to the best coach of the year.

The 49-year-old Frenchman succeeds compatriot Zinedine Zidane in the prize-winners’ list, with the former Real Madrid coach being another of the nominees, alongside Croatian Zlatko Dalic, who was defeated finalist of the World Cup.

Deschamps managed to win the World Cup for France, a feat he achieved after playing as a player, something that only happened to the Brazilian Mario Zagallo and the German Franz Beckenbauer.
