1. Buhari formally appoints Amaechi as his 2019 presidential campaign DG

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday appointed transport minister, Rotimi Amacechi as the Director-General of his 2019 presidential campaign organization.

The appointment was made known in a press statement made available to the media by the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

2. Dogara defects from APC to PDP

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.

He confirmed his defection when he submitted his nomination and expression of interest form to contest on the platform of the PDP.

3. Court stops police from arresting Senator Adeleke

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke, has obtained a court order, restraining the police from arresting him.

Adeleke had approached a High Court of Justice in Osun State after the Police accused him of engaging in examination malpractice and summoned him.

4. Ambode meets Buhari in Abuja behind closed doors

Embattled Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Thursday in Abuja, met President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed doors.

The meeting, which held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, according to NAN reports afforded the governor an opportunity to update the president on latest political development within the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State.

5. Osinbajo evaluates flood impact in Delta and Anambra states

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday, visited Asaba, Delta state to inspect some of the areas affected by the flood in Delta and Anambra state.

Osinbajo’s flight landed around 1pm and is on a one-day official trip to the two states currently battling with flood.

6. Dogara explains why he dumped APC for PDP

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, has explained that he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) because the party was not committed to keeping the promise it made to Nigerians at both state and federal levels.

Speaking when he submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms at the PDP secretariat in Abuja, he also noted that the APC treated him as a stranger.

7. CUPP challenges Buhari to present his WAEC certificate

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to publicly release his own WAEC certificate.

CUPP made the call in reaction to the confirmation of Senator Ademola Adeleke’s result by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

8. APC say states free to choose method for its primaries

The leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress, has reviewed its stand on deciding the mode of primary for the selection of candidates for the 2019 elections due to pressure from the Governor’s elected on the platform of the party.

The step was taken after a meeting that lasted for more than three hours between the APC National Chairman and the party’s 22 governors at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, on Wednesday night.

9. NLC threatens nationwide strike over new minimum wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has reiterated that there is no going back on a nationwide strike scheduled to take off next week Wednesday.

The move is not unconnected with the issue of unresolved new national minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

10. Amaju Pinnick re-elected as NFF president

The sitting Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick, has just been re-elected for a second term in office.

He gathered 34 votes to defeat other contestants in the race for the glass house where football matters are controlled in Nigeria.
