8 Persons in Court For Defrauding An Osun Lawmaker

INEC Speaks On Calling Witnesses Against APC At Tribunal

Eight persons have been remanded in prison by an Osogbo High Court in Osun on Wednesday, for allegedly defrauding an Osun State lawmaker of N38 million.

Mr Olusegun Ayilara, the Magistrate ordered the remanding of the suspects in prison custody until Sept. 28 when their plea would be taken.

The accused including Kazeem Agbabiaka ,40, Abdulrasheed Ojonla, 45, Femi Oyebode,30, Babatunde Oluajo,50, and Adebiyi Kehinde, 42 are being tried for conspiracy and fraud.

Other accused are Oyebamiji Oyeniyi, 32, Ismaila Azeez, 45, and Awodunmola kehinde, 44.

According to the prosecutor, ASP John Idoko, the offence was committed in Oluajo area of Osogbo, between April and July.

Idoko said the accused conspired to defraud the Majority Leader, Osun State House of Assembly (OSHA), Timothy Owoeye, of the sum of N38 million under the pretences of organising a spiritual prayer for him to avert a death revelation.

He further accused the suspects of being responsible for circulating a video that went viral showing lawmaker naked.

The crime the suspects are accused of is contrary to the sections 516 and 390(9) of the criminal code, cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun, 2003.

28th of September has been declared as the date for the next hearing by the Magistrate.
