Akwa Ibom State Former Governor, Godswill Akpabio has said the federal government under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), did not build at least one kilometer of road for the state in 16 years of the party’s reign.

Prior to August when Akpabio defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he served his two terms as governor under the PDP and was a key member of the opposition party since 1999.

Akpabio, who spoke while leading elders from the state to President Muhammadu Buhari today, said his heart was in support of Buhari during the 2015 elections, despite the fact that he was a PDP member.

He said no be defection would affect the chances of the APC in the forthcoming elections.

Akpabio boasted that Akwa Ibom will be the first state from the south-south that the APC will win in 2019.

He said the PDP members in Akwa Ibom are mere carcass, as the body and soul of the party now belong to the APC

He added that over 266,000 new members had registered with the APC since he joined.
