Court Remand Man For Killing a 65 Years Old Woman

A 28 years old man, Ojo Yemi has been remanded in prison by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly killing a 65-year-old woman, Josephine Ajayi.

The suspect was reported to have killed the woman and threw her body into the river, and as such, he is being tried for murder.

Inspector Johnson Okunade, the Prosecutor accused the defendant of committing the offence on September 9 in Ado-Ekiti.

Okunade told the court that the body of the deceased was retrieved from the side of a river.

He added that the offence is contrary to Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor admonished the court to remand the accused in prison, pending legal advice from office of Director of Public Prosecutions.

According to Punch, the plea of the accused was not taken, while Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye adjourned the case until Oct. 8 for mention.
