1. Allegation of plans to bring back Daura as DSS boss unveiled

Reports have identified that the cabal, loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari have begun moves to take control of the Department of State Services ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The report further claims the group is planning to remove acting DG of the Service, Mr Mathew Seiyefa and working on the possibility of bringing back sacked Lawal Daura.

2. Army denies killing of 30 soldiers by Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army, on Sunday has tagged as untrue the news stories making the rounds that 30 soldiers were killed by Boko Haram insurgents during an attack at Zari village in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno.

According to earlier reports quoting an international wire service, 30 soldiers deployed in Zari in Guzamala Local Government Area were killed when Boko Haram launched an attack on the village on Thursday.

3. Why PDP is yet to screen Saraki, others for 2019 presidential ticket

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has explained why it has yet to constitute a panel that will screen its presidential aspirants.

Apart from the presidential aspirants, the party has also yet to name the panel that will look into the credentials of other aspirants.

4. PDP appoints 85-member committee for Osun governorship election

The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, as well as the governors of Sokoto and Benue states, Aminu Tambuwal and Samuel Ortom respectively have been appointed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, into National Campaign Council for the governorship election in Osun State.

Saraki was appointed by the PDP to chair its National Campaign Council, while Tambuwal and Ortom are members of the council.

5. Gov Okowa speaks on collapsed church in Delta state

The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed dismay over the collapse of St. Paul’s Catholic Church building at Ugolo, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta, that left one person dead.

The governor, in a statement made available to newsmen in Warri on Sunday, through Mr Charles Aniagwu, his Chief Press Secretary, described the incident as unfortunate and shocking.

6. 2019: Why Afenifere may support Atiku as Nigeria’s president

Afenifere, a Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, has revealed that the group may back the presidential bid of former vice president of Nigeria and People Democratic Party (PDP) Heavyweight, Atiku Abubakar, come 2019.

The leader of the group, Ayo Adebanjo made this known on Sunday when he received the frontline presidential aspirant in Lagos.

7. President Buhari assures of free and fair 2019 elections

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared in China on Sunday that he is not scared of free and fair elections in 2019.

He vowed that his administration would conduct a free and fair elections, since a free and fair election brought him into power in the first place.
