Governor Ortom Intervenes In Ogbadibo Local Government Crisis

Benue State Governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has directed Ogbadibo local government legislators to reverse the suspension of its chairman, Mr. Simon Akola, and his vice, Hon. Acheini Ameh within 24 hours.

The governor made this call when Dr. Paul Agada led some elders of Ogbadibo local government to pay him a courtesy visit yesterday.

Ortom said after hearing details of how the impeachment and suspension of the local government chairman and his vice were carried out, he was moved to order reversal of the suspension.

He noted that his government was not only ready to embrace peace but ensure that at every point in time, the doctrine of modern democracy was practiced.

Speaking on behalf of the elders after a close door meeting with the Governor, the group leader, Dr. Paul Agada thanked the governor for adhering to their appeal and subsequently ordering reversal of the suspension.

Agada said “the Governor has a listening ear, have respect for elders,”  after which he assured that Ogbadibo local government would reciprocate such gesture in the 2019 general election in which the Governor is seeking reelection for a second term in office.
