As the All Progressive Congress (APC) jostle to retain Osun state in the state’s September 22, gubernatorial election, 63-member campaign committee have been appointed by the party to see to its victory.

The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, while inaugurating the committee, admonished members to mobilise the people of the state to vote for the APC.

While Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State was appointed as the Chairman of the committee, Gov. Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state was appointed to assist the chairman.

Oshiomhole said many members of the committee had over the years been involved one way or another in working for the party’s electoral victories since the 2015 general elections which brought the APC to power at the centre.

The most recent one is that of Ekiti State where your excellencies did very well and some of the governors who were much involved in that exercise are not here but some of you here were very much involved in it.

“So, we have a body of experience to go about and the whole idea is to sustain the values and the ideals of our party, which are based on transparent elections on the basis of one man, one vote and joining forces with the party leadership in the state, to work hard, to mobilise the people of Osun State to vote wisely for the APC candidate in the next governorship election that is scheduled to take place by the special grace of God on September 22, 2018.”

“Your excellencies, the importance of any election doesn’t require much elaboration. As a governing party, Nigerians resolve in our favour that the All Progressives Congress should not only preside at the centre. They have expressed so much trust and confidence in our party, that on our party’s platform, 24 governors were elected even though the Supreme Court judgment had said it is parties that win election not an individual.” he said.

Oshiomhole emphasised on the important of Osun State to the APC, stating that the State was more or less the cradle of the party.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Ganduje expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him and members of the committee.

There is no doubt that this is a very powerful council looking at the composition of the membership: governors, senators and experienced party men.

“There is no doubt that winning Osun Sate is very vital to the party and the government because it’s a state we shall retain, it has been an APC state for the past eight years and by the will of God we will retain this state in order to have a 100 per cent presence in the south-western part of this country in our great party.

“As progressives, Mr. Chairman, we assure you, we will ensure a clean, free and fair election because that is the motive of the APC. Free of violence.” he said.

Ganduje noted that the committee’s assignment was made a lot easier because of the kind of purpose-driven leadership provided by the outgoing Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who he said did well in providing the dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State.

Ganduje assured the National Chairman of the party that he and his team will work hard to ensure that the party win the election in a landslide victory.
