The people of South East geo-political zone have been urged to support the ambition of the president Muhammadu Buhari so as to open doors for an Igbo man to become Nigerian president in 2023.

The call was made yesterday by a political pressure group aimed at the actualization of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid, Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria, GOGAN.

National Chairman, GOGAN, Chief Felix Idiga, who made the call during a meeting of the State/Zonal Coordinators of the group in Abuja, urged the Ibos to ensure that an opportunity to produce the next president after Buhari does not slip out of their fingers.

Chief Idigi warned that the South East zone, which has yet to produce a democratically elected president since the independence might not have another chance until the next twenty years if the current opportunity beckoning was not wisely utilized.

According to him, “And I believe, especially people from the South East, I am from the East, I believe that we have to work harder because, my brothers from the North, you should not be angry. People from the South East know that this is the only President that handover power to an Igbo man to rule Nigeria after 2023.

“I keep telling my people that we shouldn’t make the mistake because if they make mistake and give the 2019 presidency to another person, which I know can never happen, it will take another twenty years before the South East zone will produce a president.

“So, I encourage every one of us to work harder to make sure that we sensitize our people for the re-election of our President, Muhammadu Buhari come 2019.

Chief Idiga also charged all Nigerians to vote for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 because his integrity is what Nigeria deserves at a time like this.

Idiga noted that the President is governing Nigeria very well through the boosting of various infrastructural developments in the country.

He cited examples like the Abuja Light Rail, the Ajaokuta Steel Project and a host of others and said if given the mandate in 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari would do even more for Nigeria.

On the conduct of members, Idiga said, “And we all have to be very careful, President Muhammadu Buhari, you all know is a man of integrity. We don’t want a situation when you go back to your state and you say because you are a member of GOGAN you involve yourself in fraudulent act.

“GOGAN is an organisation that promotes good governance. And you will try to avoid collecting money from people because many people would want to invest in GOGAN and at the end of the day, they will go and announce that they gave President Muhammadu Buhari’s people money to campaign. “

In her remarks, the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, commended the GOGAN Chairman and Coordinator who she said is spending his personal finances to see to the success of the project.

She said “Stability was the first thing in our campaigns. You have to secure a country first before you can efficiently manage it. Before businesses can thrive, security is paramount. That is why we lay so much emphasis on securing the country, and that is what President Muhammadu Buhari is doing”.
