Toyin Ajakaye, an accused person, has recounted before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court the story of how he killed an Okada rider, Omoniyi Are over N100 disagreement.

Ajakaye stated that the disagreement stated when the offered the okada rider N100 out of the N200 charged by the motorcyclist, after which fight ensued, an incident that consequently led to the death of the motorcyclist.

According to the charge sheet, Toyin allegedly committed the crime on August 22 at Agbado-Ekiti in Gbonyin Local Government Area.

Toyin stated that he held the deceased by the neck as he (Omoniyi) was trying to hold his private part. He added that the deceased died in the course of the struggle.

Knowing fully well that he could not carry the corpse, Toyin stated that he put a rope around the neck of the deceased, he dug a shallow grave and buried the corpse.

He stated that he could not cover his crime for long as he was arrested by passersby who saw him during his attempt to bury the corpse and was handed to the police.

Lasisi Basiru, the investigating officer confirmed the story of the accused.

The police prosecutor, Oriyomi Akinwale, prayed the court should grant his request to remand the accused in prison custody.

Before adjourning the case till October 16, presiding magistrate, Mrs. Modupe Afeniforo, ordered that Toyin be remanded in prison custody.
