Hawke Says Logan Is Called Great Because Of Its Market Value

For 10 years, the genre of superhero movies has taken the first place on the cinema podium; for better and for worse, by the way. While Marvel scores tremendously at each of his new products, that the genre still looks set to dominate for at least another decade, it’s good to see that there is no unanimity either.

Because quite simply, if nobody had anything to say again, we would find ourselves in a strange situation of general paralysis where the genre could not evolve anymore. This is one of the things that people seem to miss now, the value of criticism . When not voluntarily murdered and gratuitous, criticism is essential because constructive. It is through it that we advance, that we evolve, that we correct some errors to become better.

It is for this reason that we welcome with joy the recent remarks of the actor Ethan Hawke , who micro aspersion Film Training , gave its opinion on gender using the example his experience with the Logan in James Mangold :

Now we have a problem because he tells us that Logan is a great movie, so yes, it’s great for a superhero movie, but it still evokes characters sticking with pieces of metal that come out of them. It’s not Robert Bresson, not Ingmar Bergman, but they talk about it as if it were.

Before the most hardcore fans do not jump at his throat to punish him for blaspheming at this point, relax and read on. Because it might sting you a little:

I went to see Logan because everyone was saying it was great, so I wanted to know, and no, it’s a cool superhero movie, there’s a difference but the Market thinks it’s There’s no difference, the Market wants you to believe it’s an awesome film because it wants to make the most money out of it.

So, just like Hawke, we do not say that Logan is rotten, he was even liked, but we can only join the actor on this last point. It may be necessary to put things in perspective and at their level. Because yes, there is clearly a qualitative and indisputable difference between a film by Ingmar Bergman and a Marvel production . And too bad if it bothers some.
