Niger Lawmaker Grants 100 Students Scholarship In Kaduna Polytechnic

About 100 students have benefited from a scholarship offered by Mr Malik Bosso, lawmaker, representing Bosso constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly.

According to Bosso, the students are pursuing various courses at the Kaduna polytechnic.

He said the scholarship was part of efforts to support the education development of youths in his constituency.

The lawmaker disclosed that 10 beneficiaries were drawn from each of the 10 wards of Bosso constituency, after satisfying certain criteria.

“I have decided to offer them this scholarship as part of my own little way of boosting the level of education in my constituency.

“We all know that education is critical to the growth and development of any society, that is why I offered 10 per ward and we have 10 wards, thus making 100 students.

“I will continue to support people who are willing to embrace education,” he said.

Bosso disclosed that he had also distributed learning materials worth N2.3 million to primary and secondary schools in Bosso and constructed two classroom blocks in Garatu, Gbata and Gbaiko communities.

According to him, other projects executed by him are: construction of 19 motorised boreholes, 33 hand boreholes and purchase and installation of 13 transformers.

Others include distribution of 2400 bags of fertiliser to farmers at subsidised rate as well as wrappers and cash donations of N2000 each to 500 widows, according to him.

“I gave a subsidy of ₦2,000 on each bag of fertiliser which is sold at ₦5,500 in the market. So instead of paying ₦5,500 for a bag, you only pay ₦3,500.

“As for the widows, available statistics shows that their number is very high within my domain, that is why I decided to come to their aid.

“We need to remember the widows among us because they are passing through a lot as bread winners,” he said.

He restated his resolve to provide more dividends of democracy to his constituents before the expiration of the tenure of present administration in the state.

The lawmaker said the 8th legislature in the state was committed to enacting laws and executing projects that had direct bearing on the lives of the people.

“We are committed to improving the lot of our people by passing legislation that will impact them positively.”
