APC Blames Attack On The Peoples Democratic Party

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, of sponsoring the alleged attack on Senator Godswill Akpabio’s home on Tuesday.

Ini Okopido, the chairman of APC in the state, blamed PDP for the attack on the former Senate Minority Leader, in his country home at Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Naija News recalls that a statement by the media aide of the senator, Anietie Ekong, in Uyo on Tuesday, claimed that unidentified gunmen stormed Akpabio’s residence and shot sporadically causing a stampede among those who were attending a crucial political meeting in the house.

Ekong in his statement also noted that Udom Ekpoudom, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, was seen making call for increased security to fight against the attack.

The State’s APC Chairman in a statement on Wednesday said the “unprovoked attack” on Akpabio’s residence was unwarranted.

The APC family will not tolerate such unwarranted attack on any of her members/leaders. The hoodlums, while shooting sporadically around the environment, robbed passers-by and a nearby petrol station.

“Even though the incidence was promptly reported to the state Commissioner of Police by the retired Deputy Inspector-General, Udom Ekpoudom, who witnessed the attack and the CP responded by sending police reinforcement to the scene, such an action by unguided miscreants is unacceptable and condemnable.

“Politicians should play by the rules to forestall reprisals,” he said.

Naija News however earlier reported that the Police while reacting to the alleged attacks, submitted that Senator Akpabio’s residence was not attacked but the shootings were from a robbery attack on a nearby petrol station.
