1. Presidency slams Tambuwal for saying Buhari is too old for 2019

The Presidency has responded to Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s claim that President Muhammadu Buhari was not fit to run for a second term.

The presidency made reference to the 800m walk by Buhari back to his residence after the Sallah prayers in his home town of Daura to show that the president is still very fit physically.

2. Ekweremadu has overstayed his welcome in the Senate – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu state has vowed to unseat Deputy Senate President, Prof Ike Ekweremadu in next year’s general elections.

This they said as they expressed worry over Ekweremadu’s 16 years office in the Senate.

3. EFCC drags Akwa Ibom PDP senator to court over N254m car gifts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a court case at an Ikeja High Court against the only surviving PDP serving senator, Albert Bassey, in Akwa Ibom for allegedly receiving 12 cars worth N254 million as bribes.

Mr Albert , 45, who is representing Akwa-Ibom North-East, reportedly received the vehicles between 2010 and 2014 from Olajide Omokore, a businessman, when he (Bassey) served as the Akwa-Ibom Commissioner for Finance.

4. Kidnappers kill two soldiers and policeman in Rivers state

Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed at least four persons in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The deceased were shot dead while trying to truncate an attempt by the kidnappers to take hostage a foreigner they were conveying to an oil facility in the area.

5. Resign or we will force you out – Miyetti Allah to Saraki

Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association has now joined league with those warning the President of Senate, Bukola Saraki, to resign his position immediately.

The coordinator of the association in Benue State, Alhaji Garus Gololo, who spoke to Punch in an interview at Markurdi said it will be forced to do so, Saraki does not comply.

6. President Buhari rules out scrapping of NYSC

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday gave an indication that his administration would not scrap the National Youth Service Corps scheme as being proposed in some quarters.

Buhari spoke while granting audience to members of the NYSC currently serving in Daura community, Katsina State.

7. Tinubu vs Saraki: It’s too early to talk about 2023 presidency – APC

The national publicity secertary of the All Progressives Congress, Yekini Nabena has stated that it is too early to start playing politics as relating to the 2023 presidency.

He said this in reaction to the barrage of accusations between Senate President Bukola Saraki and APC national leader, Bola Tinubu as regards the 2023 presidential elections in Nigeria.
