Group Calls FG To Double Its Effort Towards Insecurity

The Muslims in Abia state in the atmosphere of Eld Kabir celebration, has called on the federal government to step up its programs aimed at stopping poverty amidst Nigerians.

They expressed worry over the increasing level of poverty in the country, and advised the government to work towards putting an end to the hardship faced by people.

The view was made in a Sallah message released by the leader of Muslim community in Abia, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu on Tuesday.

The group used the opportunity to admonish government to redouble its efforts in addressing insecurity in the country.

The Eld-el-Kabir message reads,”We call for peace to reign and for us to step up the need for unity of the country. But not the unity that do not favour all, a unity that ensures that all the component parts of the country, all the federating units are carried along.

“Let all and sundry feel the impact and import of being Nigerians. And also, the security of the country is in near collapse. The government should bring out mechanism that will ensure the security of lives and property of our people. The federal government should look inwards towards revolving the local vigilante, empowering the locals to ensure there is security in their own domain.

“We urge the federal government to look at the poverty level our people are subjected to. They should lay more emphasis on alleviating the suffering of the masses, rather than politicking, resuscitation of bitterness among the political class.

“We should also look at the economy, which is in a very serious retrogression, to step up mechanism that will ensure a private-driven economy. It will enable our teeming youths who are coming out from the tertiary institutions to have access to employment. Because overburden on Bureaucracy cannot give us the minimum level of employment of our citizenry.

“We should do what it takes to direct our energy towards a private driven economy backed up by a robustful foreign direct investment. And for us to do that, we have to go back to ensure there is adequate security in our country.
