Community Want Indigenes To Contribute To Development

Ikpa community leaders of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, have challenged their sons and daughters who are presently occupying positions of authority to ensure that they use their power and resources to touch lives and contribute to the general development of the area.

This, the leaders said at the inauguration of mini water projects and an ultra-modern administrative complex, ‘Udom Emmanuel IWADU House at Use Abat (Ibiono Western) and Ikpa communities respectively, built by one of the indigenes, Mr. Ini Ememobong, a legal practitioner and Publicity secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Paramount ruler, HRM Edidem (Dr) Okuku Ime Udousoro Inyang, said: “Today is a day that will not be forgotten in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area. I want to use this opportunity to tell politicians to emulate this kind gesture. We appreciate Ini Ememobong today for his good representation. When the time comes, we will call him back to honour him.

“Also I want to use this opportunity to salute the state governor because he is a listening governor and a promise keeper. Past governors of Akwa Ibom made promises to Ibiono people, but they failed to fulfill their promises. I remember when Governor Udom Emmanuel came for campaign in 2014; I told him that he should do whatever he can do for Ibiono.

Governor Udom Emmanuel promised that he will construct Ibiaku-Ikot Udom road within 100 days in office and he fulfilled his promise. So I am happy to identify with his government. And about his re-election, this community has endorsed him and I support their stance,” the monarch asserted.
