Chelsea Sign Kepa As Thibaut Courtois’s Replacement

English premier league giants, Chelsea, have completed a world-record £72 million (€80m/$92m) signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Club.

The 23-year old Spanish international, signed a seven year deal with Chelsea.

The club moved swiftly to replace Thibaut Courtois, who as earlier reported by Naija News, was sold to Real Madrid.

The fee paid for Kepa, smashes the previous £65m goalkeeper transfer record, set by Liverpool when they purchased Alisson Becker from Roma in July.

“It’s a very important decision for me, for my career, and also for my personal life,” Kepa told the club’s official website.

“So many things attracted me to the club, all the titles the club has won, the other players, the city, the English Premier League. It’s an accumulation of things, and I am very glad Chelsea has decided to trust me and to take me in as well.”

Chelsea begin their 2018/2019 Premier League campaign with a visit to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
