Beyoncé reveals that she is a descendant of a slave owner

In an interview with Vogue magazine , Beyoncé revealed that she is a descendant of a slave owner. In the publication, she commented on how this past of the family still reflects on her present.

“I’ve researched my ancestry recently and it comes up that I come from a slave owner who fell in love and married a slave I had to process this revelation over time.” I questioned what it meant and tried to put it in perspective. I believe that this is why God has blessed me with my twins.The masculine and feminine energy was able to coexist and grow in my blood for the first time.I pray that I will be able to break the generational curses in my family and that my children have less complicated lives, “he said.

Beyoncé also stressed that the family has a “lineage of complicated relationships, abuse of power and mistrust” and that it has also affected her. “Only after that did I clearly see that I was able to resolve these conflicts in my own relationship,” she commented, alluding to rumors that she would have been betrayed by Jay Z.

Beyoncé also praised 23-year-old photographer Tyler Mitchell who became the first African-American to sign a Vogue cover , of which she is the star.

“There are so many cultural and social barriers that I like to do what I can to level the playing field to present a different point of view for people who may feel that their voices do not matter,” she said.
