Police Claims Attack Is A Case Of Cult Clash

A 25 year old man identified as Felix Olowookere in Akungba Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been reported murdered by suspected cultists.

Report has it that Olowookere was killed by some youths suspected to be cultists.

The deceased, before the time of his murder was known as a computer repairer who repairs computers for students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.

The incident happened, barely 24 hours after the family celebrated the wedding of the deceased’s sister on Saturday.

According to a source in the town, the suspected assailants carried out the illegal act after the deceased’s father had been away for the thanksgiving service for the Saturday’s wedding.

The source said, “His assailants used axes, cutlasses and broken bottles on him during the scuffle and he died during the assault. Immediately after killing him, the assailants fled.”

Mr. Femi Joseph, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed the incident and said it was a case of cult clash.

He also stated that the command had begun investigation into the matter.

We have commenced investigation on the matter. It was a case of cult clash, but we are yet to ascertain whether the deceased was a member of any cult group or not,” Joseph said.

Meanwhile, Olowookere’s corpse has been deposited at the mortuary of the Ondo State Specialists Hospital, Ikare Akoko.
