Police Arrests 2 Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Gun In Enugu

Two suspected armed robbers and cultist have been apprehended at Oji River axis of Enugu State, by the State Police Command.

SP Ebere Amaraizu, the command’s Spokesman, made this revelation in the state capital on Friday.

Amaraizu, who disclosed that the two suspects were arrested on July 30, added that a locally made gun was recovered from the suspects with two live cartridges.

He stated that the police operatives of the Oji River Division of the command achieved the feet through intelligence information.

“One of the suspects who gave his name as Samuel Onyia, a resident of Ugwunzu in Oji River, disclosed that he is a member of JVC confraternity.

“Following his arrest and the revelation, one Chigozie Agunwichie, also a member of JVC confraternity, was nabbed.

“Onyia was caught with the gun and live cartridges while a manhunt for other fleeing members of the gang had been intensified,’’ he said.

The spokesperson stated that the suspect have been helping the police officials in their investigation.

He said that the command had maintained its aggressive sensitisation tagged: “Police Campaign Against Cultism And Other Vices (POCACOV)’’ is being sustained to ensure that the entire state is safe and secure against cult activities.
