Nigeria Military Presently In Fierce Gun Battle Against Boko Haram In Borno

An attack carried out by dozens of Boko-Haram insurgents have been repelled by the Nigerian Army and Police during an attempted invasion of Jakana town in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno by the insurgents.

NAN reports that the insurgents who were armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the Jakana, a town 40km away from Maiduguri, the Borno capital, at about 5.30 pm.

The GOC 7 Div, Maiduguri, Brig-Gen Bulama Biu, who confirmed the attack stated that the attacked failed as the military withstood it.

“Yes, there was an attack and we are on top of the situational; I will get back to you for details,” he told NAN in a telephone interview on Thursday.

A policeman in the town who did not want his name mentioned, said the troops fought gallantly to repel the attackers.

Malam Adamu Kemdi, a resident of Jakana who fled the town, told NAN that the insurgents came with sophisticated weapons mounted on more than 15 vehicles.

Kemdi hinted that the insurgents invaded the town in search of food items, as Thursday is the market day in Jakana.
