FIFA 2007 World Cup Top Scorer, Chrisantus Maculey  of Golden Eaglets Joins Finland To Play With HJK Helsinki

It is a fresh start for Chrisantus Macauley who was the top scorer for the Golden Eaglets at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup as the 27 year old has joined Finland after several spells across Europe.

Macauley’s arrival in Finland is a year-long contract in which there is an option to buy at the end of the 2019 season.

A statement on the club’s official website confirmed the deal for the Nigerian and also praised the qualities he brings.

The statement reads:

Chrisantus is still a very potent striker, able to play as densely as on the land. Macky has done good things in quite a lot of times and we believe that HJK is an environment in which he is able to develop further.

“In this way, we get more competition and alternatives to our attacking equipment, and of course our look is already coming next season. In addition, Macky is a positive and cheerful person, which is always a good thing, backed by football leader Juho Rantala.”

Macauley also revealed in a statement that he is happy to have completed the switch to Finland, “Nice to come to the Club. The sun shines and is a good sign. I’m going to do a lot of goals.”, . He said.

Born in Abuja, Nigeria, Macauley has played for several clubs such as Hamburger SV, Karlsruher SC, FSV Frankfurt, Sivasspor, AEK Athens, Lamia, Reus Deportiu and Real Murcia.
