Seven People Withdraws From PDP Governorship Primary In Osun

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Osun State is holding its governorship primary, ahead of the election slated to hold in September.

Naija news Understands that The primaries which is being held in Osogbo the state capital is to determine who becomes the governorship flag bearer of the party.

Out of the eleven aspirants, seven have however stepped down citing party cohesion and appealing to the party leaders as their reason for leaving.

Addressing the delegates, the chairman of the PDP primaries committee for Osun state PDP, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, assured them of free, fair and credible candidates. He urged other aspirants to support whoever is elected as the party’s flagbearer.

About 3,000 delegates are gathered in the state capital for the governorship primary.

Those who have withdrawn include a former Speaker of the state, Adejare Bello, Professor Adeolu Durotoye, Jide Adeniji, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, Ayoade Adewopo, Lere Oyewumi and Felix Ogunwale.

While those left in the race are Nurudeen Adeleke who is a sitting senator, Fatai Akinbade and Dr Akin Ogunbiyi and Nathaniel Oke (SAN)

The winner of the governorship primary will be contending with Gboyega Oyetola who became the APC flagbearer and Other contestants from other parties.
