1. Senators to probe Buhari’s appointments

The Senate, during plenary on Thursday, was thrown into a rowdy session for some minutes over the objection of some South-East senators to the lop sided appointments in President Buhari’s administration.

This followed a constitutional point of order raised by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu after its President, Bukola Saraki, read a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari seeking legislative confirmation of appointments into the board of the Federal Emergency Road Maintenance Agency.

2. Governor Ortom makes u-turn on decamping from APC

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, has disclosed he remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while expressing optimism that the current differences would be amicably resolved.

Ortom said this on Thursday in Abuja while addressing journalists, shortly after he met with Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the APC.

3. I am not afraid of Fayemi’s probe – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, has declared that he is ready to be probed by the incoming administration of the APC-led Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

Fayose made the declaration in response to Fayemi’s statement that he was going to investigate the financial dealings of the Fayose administration.

4. We have evidence that INEC and APC rigged Ekiti election – PDP

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has said that it has what it called “facts” on how the APC led federal government connived with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)to rig the last governorship election in Ekiti State.

The national vice chairman of the party, South West, Engr. Eddy Olafeso said that the party has gathered its facts and would head to the tribunal to seek justice.

5. Buhari meets with Saraki, select APC governors

Some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and the President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Bokola Saraki, met with the President behind closed door at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.

The meeting reportedly discussed how to stop defections from the party ahead of the 2019 general elections in the country.

6. Reps to investigate N8trillion missing mining funds

The alleged loss of N8 trillion from leakages and illegal mining of gold and other solid mineral resources in the country will be looked into, the House of Representative reveals.

According to the members of the house, an ad hoc committee looking at irregularities in the nation’s mining sector in the last five years would lunch the probe.

7. Melaye allegedly escapes assassination attempt

Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West district at the National Assembly Thursday allegedly escaped another assassination attempt on his life as unknown gunmen allegedly shot at his car.

The Senator, who arrived Kogi State to commission over 143 projects scattered across the seven local government areas that formed the district was attacked by some men in uniform.

8. PDP threatens to boycott 2019 elections

The Peoples Democratic Party has threatened not to participate in the 2019 general elections in the country.

The national chairman of the party PDP, Uche Secondus, said on Thursday that the party was consulting with its relevant organs, and was reviewing last weekend’s Ekiti election.

9. APC to elect Osun governorship candidate today

The All Progressives Congress would hold its primaries to elect its candidate for the Osun state governorship election today.

The party had earlier postponed the primaries from Thursday to Friday.

10. Former IGP, Ibrahim Coomasie dies at 76

Former Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Ahmadu Coomassie, has been confirmed dead after losing the battle to an undisclosed sickness.

His younger brother, Alhaji Dahiru Coomasie confirmed that Coomasie died at Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital, Katsina.
