Why Buhari Can’t Win War Against Terrorism – Turaki

Kabiru Turaki, SAN, A Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant, has said the war against terror hasn’t come to an end because the current administration has failed to use the global best practice of carrot and stick.

Turaki said this while speaking at a news conference in Minna, Niger State, he explained that they were able to push Boko Haram insurgents to the fringes of the country and also conducted the 2015 elections in the front line states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states by adopting the time-tested practices under Former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Why FG Cannot Release Dasuki Despite Court Bail – Malami

The attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami, has cited reasons for the inability of the federal government to release former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, on bail despite a court order to that effect.

Malami stated that the allegation against him is a matter of public interest, which far outweighs his personal interest.

I Declared My 2019 Presidential Ambition Early To Calm Political Tension – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari Friday in Abuja said he made his intention to contest the 2019 Presidential Elections known early in order to douse rising speculations and give the party, All Progressives Congress (APC), enough time to prepare for the polls.

President Buhari, according to his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, who received members of the Buhari Support Group Centre (BSGC) at the State House, said he noticed that speculations were already constituting distraction to governance and stirring tensions, so he had to declare during the National Executive Committee meeting of the party.

INEC Extends Time For PVC Registration, To Suspend Exercise On August 17

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has extended the closing time for its Continous Voters Registration from 3pm to 5pm across all centers.

The electoral umpire also vowed to work during public holidays to ensure that as many Nigerians as possible are registered before the exercise is suspended in August.

R-APC Shift Defection Plans To Next Week

The Reformed All Progressives Congress planned defection has been moved to next week, after an emergency meeting yesterday by the All Progressives Congress caucus to drum support for President Muhammadu Buhari and find ways to persuade the R-APC faction to stick with the caucus.

The meeting which was convened by the House Majority Leader, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, was said to have lasted from 3.30pm to about 5.28pm.
