Nigeria Air Unveiled

Nigeria Close To Getting New National Carrier

The federal government has today, as promised, announced the new name and unveiled the logo for the nation’s new national carrier as “Nigeria Air.”

Minister of state for transportation, Hadi Sirika, made the disclosure in London today at the Farborough Air fair.

On why Farnborough was chosen for the unveiling, the FG disclosed that it is one of the biggest Airshows in the world, where decision makers and industry experts gather every two years to do business. Adding that the new National Carrier will bring Nigeria closer to the world.

Speaking during the unveiling, Sirika stated that “We want to use this new private-sector-led airline to make a statement that, ‘Yes, Nigeria can do it!’ and we also want to promote our cultures and traditions. It will also create economic opportunities and jobs.

It was further revealed that the Nigerian government will not own more than 5% of the new national carrier and plans are in place to fly to 81 local and international destinations.

Naija News reports that the new National Carrier is expected to begin operations in December 2018.
