1. Dr. Kayode Fayemi declared winner of Ekiti governorship election

Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared winner of the Ekiti gubernatorial election which held over the weekend.

Fayemi defeated PDP candidate, Prof. Kolapo and other contestants to emerge governor elect in Ekiti state.

2. President Buhari arrives Netherlands

President Muhammadu Buhari as arrived the Netherlands to participate in activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), at The Hague.

President Buhari is the only world leader invited to deliver a keynote address during the Solemn Hearing to commemorate the anniversary at Courtroom 1 of the ICC’s Headquarters at The Hague.

3. Presidency orders probe into Kemi Adeosun’s NYSC scandal

President Muhammadu Buhari’s office has ordered that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to do a thorough probe of the alleged exemption certificate scandal involving the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.

The minister is alleged to be carrying a fake NYSC exemption certificate.

4. PDP rejects Ekiti election results

The People democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the July 14 Governorship election in which Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated the PDP candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola and other candidates.

The PDP in a media briefing has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of falsifying the victory for the APC.

5. 23 soldiers missing after Boko Haram attack

No fewer than 23 Nigerian soldiers are yet to be accounted for, after Boko Haram insurgents ambushed a military convoy at Boboshe village, in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Five officers, 18 soldiers and 8 trucks were allegedly missing after the attack which occurred early on Saturday.

6. EFCC threatens to arrest Governor Fayose

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), has threatened to arrest and prosecute Governor Ayodele Fayose for alledged financial crimes in handling some projects initiated by his administration.

The EFCC made the threat in a post on its twitter account after the PDP lost the Ekiti governorship elections.

7. Why House of Reps cannot suspend me  – Omo-Agege

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, representing the Delta Central Senatorial District, has lambasted the House of Representatives for approving his suspension over alleged involvement in the invasion of the Senate chamber and mace snatching.

Omo-Agege said he can’t be subjected to any of their suspension or disciplinary action as he is not a member of the house.

8. I won’t run away from Nigeria – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose has declared he won’t run away from Nigeria over the loss of his party and its candidate at the governorship elections in Ekiti.

This was disclosed by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, who claimed to have spoken with Fayose over his future without immunity.

9. Chris Okotie declares 2019 presidential ambition

Pastor of the Household of God Church, Rev. Chris Okotie, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2019 presidential election.

Okotie had contested the presidency three times earlier on the platform of the Justice Party (JP) in 2003 and 2007, while in 2011 he contested on the platform of Fresh Democratic Party (FDP).

10. France defeats Croatia to emerge World cup champions

The 2018 FIFA World Cup In Russia has come to an end with outstanding France recording their second world cup trophy in the history of the country with a 4-2 victory over Croatia.

The 1998 winners were one of the favourites from the onset, but not all favourites reached this stage, and they were up against a pre-tournament underdog in the final match.
