Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, reportedly collapsed during a PDP rally in the state ahead of the July 14 governorship election in the state.

Senate Wants Melaye’s Security Details Restored Without Further Delay

The Federal Government have been asked on Wednesday to restore Sen. Dino Melaye’s (APC-Kogi) security details immediately.

The Senator said his security details were withdrawn by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Idris Ibrahim, shortly before his arrest on April 23.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that caution must be taken by security agencies deployed in Ekiti ahead of Saturday’s Governorship election, while stating that they are their to encourage voters to people come out to vote on the day of the election, not intimidate them.

Jonathan made this appeal today in a statement by his Spokesman, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, after the alleged rough-handling of people, including the state’s governor, Ayodele Fayose in Ado-Ekiti allegedly by security operatives.

Naira Sells At N358.5 To Dollar At Parallel Market

The Naira on Wednesday appreciated marginally against the dollar at the parallel market in Lagos, exchanging at N358.50 to the dollar.

Newsmen report that the Nigerian currency was 10 kobo stronger than N358.60 to the dollar traded on Tuesday, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N478 and N417.5, respectively.
