New Speaker Promises To Make The Assembly Envy Of All
The new Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly, Joshua Madaki, has called for the support for his leadership by his colleagues in order to succeed.
The Plateau Speaker, who happens to be the former Chief Whip of the house, revealed this while having an interview with NAN on Thursday in Jos.
Recall that Naija News reported that the Assembly on Wednesday impeached the erstwhile speaker, Mr Peter Azi, who controlled the affairs of House for over three years with 17 out of the 24 members of the House signing the impeachment notice.
Madaki, who appreciate the confidence of his colleagues, assured them of an Assembly that would be an envy to others.
“I really want to thank my colleagues for finding me worthy of this exalted office.
“However, I want to call on them to cooperate and support me to succeed.
“I want to assure my colleagues and indeed, Plateau people that under my leadership, this Assembly will witness proactive legislative activism,” he assured.
The speaker also urged his colleagues to remain focused and resolute in discharging their legislative functions.
He also commended Azi for steering the affairs of the Assembly over the years and urged him to support the new leadership.
