The three months suspension placed on Hon. Godwin Adenomo by lawmakers in the Edo State House of Assembly have been declared as unconstitutional, illegal and of no effect whatsoever by the Edo State High Court.

For demanding payment of N220million as his outstanding benefits and salaries, Adenomo, who is representing Ovia South West constituency, was suspended on May 16.

Adenomo was initially suspended by the house for failing to appear before the House adhoc committee to substantiate is claims.

Kabiru Adjoto, the speaker of the house insisted that Adenomo didn’t follow proper channel in line with the House rules to make his demands.

He stated that the action of the Lawmaker undermined that authority of the house, and brought the house to disrepute.

Justice V.O. Oviawe, while delivering his judgement of the case filed by Adenomo through his lawyer Kingsley Obamogie, submitted that that the Speaker lacked powers to suspend Adenomo for three months.

Justice Oviawe, who declared that suspending the lawmaker without any hearing was unconstitutional and invalid, set aside the purported suspension of Adenomo by the House.
