An Apapa Magistrates’ Court has on Wednesday remanded two men — Yahaya Danjuma and Yunisa Momodu in Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, for allegedly robbing a woman of money and other valuables worth N183,200.

The court ruled that, pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Danjuma, 26, and Momodu, 28, should be kept behind bars.

The suspected were brought before the court for six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, being in possession of dangerous weapons and armed robbery.

According to Police Prosecutor Augustine Ejembi, the accused committed the offences on June 3 at 9.30 p.m. at Iyalode Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.

He added that the complainant, Khadija Umar, was robbed of her belongings including money and valuables by the duo who were armed with some dangerous weapons.

“The accused had threatened to hack the accused to death if she refused to cooperate.

“They also puffed cigarette smoke into her eyes so that she will not be able to identify them,” he said.

She was robbed of N165,000, a Techno phone, a rechargeable lighter, totalling N183,200, according to the prosecutor.

The offences are contrary to Sections 45, 51, 173, 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Mrs Olaitan Ajayi, the magistrate adjourned the case until Aug. 9 for DPP’s advice.
