APC Government Lacks Coordination – RAPC

The All Progressives Congress over time has been experiencing in house crisis which saw the emergence of the Reformed All Progressives Congress.

The Reformed All Progressives Congress On Friday, attacked the ruling party, APC, stating that its style of governance lack coordination.

Mr. Kassim Afegbua, the National Publicity Secretary of the RAPC, who gave an example of restructuring, said President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has different opinion on the issue, despite the ruling party promising the Nigerians before the 2015 elections.

He stated that the party was not what the founding father had in view when they came together in 2014.

He said, “As we speak, the APC has jettisoned its own manifesto. Where is the restructuring we promised Nigerians? They hurriedly came up with a committee headed by Governor (Nasir) el-Rufai; where has that landed us?

“The Vice-President is a supporter of restructuring. The President of the country is not a supporter of restructuring in the same government. There is no synergy. There is no coordination on any issue.

“You have about three or four opinions from the same government; that is not the way to lead.

“When the Fulani herdsmen issue came up in Benue State, the Inspector General of Police came up with a different position; the Minister of Defence gave a different position; and the Presidency is giving a different position.”

The New Peoples Democratic Party bloc in the APC and other aggrieved members of the ruling party, had on Wednesday announced the formation of the R-APC.

R-APC, at a press conference attended by the leader of the nPDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, announced Alhaji Buba Galadima, a former ally of Buhari, as its national chairman.

The RAPC was dismissed by Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday, while having an interview with journalist.

Reacting to Oshiomhole’s claims that the R-APC members were mercenaries hired to destabilise the APC, Afegbua said they were genuine members of the party interested in retrieving the party from usurpers.

Afegbua, said, “Adams Oshiomhole needs to take a look at our past. We do not possess the characteristics of hirelings or mercenaries.

“We are bona fide members of the APC. When it is convenient for people, they dress you in very elegant robes but when they are losing the battle, they call you names, but we will not call them names, we will continue to insist that we are going to rescue the APC and reposition it for optimum performance.

“We cannot be preaching to be progressives when we are law-breakers. We cannot be preaching that we are progressives when we are a party that has performed abysmally low in all sectors of the economy.”

Meanwhile, the anchorman of the Parliamentary Support Group in the House, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin, said the group was more interested in having the crisis in the larger APC family resolved than allowing its members to go.

Jibrin, who attended Thursday’s peace meeting between Oshiomhole and lawmakers at the National Assembly, said he would not leave the APC and would also not support the idea of other members leaving.

He urged Buhari and Osinbajo to support the peace efforts to ensure that they succeeded.

“After our caucus meeting with the APC Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and his working committee, I believe they deserve every commendation for such impressive efforts to resolve the present crisis as much as they can as it concerns the House of Representatives and the APC family at large,” he said.

Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara-South), who is loyal to Senate President Bukola Saraki,while speaking on Friday said, neither confirmed nor denied being a member of the R-APC.

He however pointed out that those marginalised in the APC would be forced out of the ruling party for political survival.

“You cannot talk of fairness when you don’t address injustice. People were shut out. Once you don’t want to remain in confusion, make sure you sit down, be truthful and honest,” he said.

In an interview, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (Delta-Central) blamed the crisis in the APC on the immediate past NWC. He however dismissed that R-APC was a faction.

Omo-Agege said, “As far as I am concerned, there is only one APC headed by Adams Oshiomhole. I am not aware of any faction in the APC.”
