Buhari Congratulates Erdogan For His Victory At The Polls

President Muhammadu Buhari, reached out to Turkey President, Mr Recep Erdogan vie telephone to congratulate him over his re-election.

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistance to the President on Media and Publicity to the President made this disclosure in Abuja in a statement on Friday.

President Buhari expressed optimism that the victory of the Turkish president would translate to economic prosperity and also strengthens the democracy of the country.

Shehu also disclosed that the President said he was anticipating a strengthened Turkey/Nigeria relationship.

He appreciated the invitation sent to him by the president for the July 9 inauguration, but expressed disappointment that he will not be coming for the event.

He told the Turkish President that he would be sending the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Muhammed Bello to represent him.

Shehu stated that Buhari and his turkish counterpart had since their inception of office, enjoyed a very cordial relationship, and they have met some couple of time.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports President Erdogan emerged winner of the June 25 Turkish presidential election with 52.5 per cent of the total votes cast during the exercise.

Erdogan’s closest challenger, Muharrem Ince, who got 31per cent, had since conceded defeat.
