Ciroma Has Contributed To Nigeria’s Democracy – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the passing on of Malam Adamu Ciroma, an elder statesman and former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The President in his condolence massages in a statement made available to Naija News by Femi Adesina, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, condoled with the Ciroma family, the government and people of Yobe on the passing of the elder statesman.

The President stated that Ciroma as a political leader and federal cabinet minister for Industries, Agriculture and Finance, at various points in his remarkable life, would be long remembered for his remarkable service and dedication to the country’s unity, progress and stability.

The President disclosed that the Former CBN governor would be honoured for his contributions to promoting democracy in Nigeria.

He stated that the achievement of Ciroma should be a model that would inspire present leaders to make the needed change in their community.

The President prayed that almighty Allah would grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort the elder statesman’s family and associates.

The elder statesman, died at 84 in an Abuja hospital on Thursday after a protracted illness.

The deceased, a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was finance minister under President Olusegun Obasanjo administration from 1999 to 2003. He was also minister of agriculture and managing director of New Nigerian newspapers.
