1. President Buhari sympathises with victims of Kaduna bomb explosion

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent his deepest condolence to the victims of a gas explosion in Kaduna.

The President’s message is enclosed in a press statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Sunday, in which the President stated that he understands the feeling of loss and economic ruin suffered by the “hardworking Nigerians striving to make a living through honest labour”.

2. French President, Macron to visit African shrine in Lagos tommorow

Afrika Shrine, a nightclub in Lagos founded by Nigerian music legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti will play host to Emmanuel Macron, the France President on Tuesday.

The Lagos State government have announced that there would be traffic diversion and restriction of movement from 12 noon to 12 midnight on July 3, around Alausa, African Shrine and Agidingbi axis in Ikeja.

3. Police protest in Maiduguri over unpaid allowances

There was commotion in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital Monday as mobile police officers took to the street to protest six months unpaid allowances.

It was learnt that the officers were posted to the state in January to strengthen security of the troubled northeast state which had been bedeviled by Boko Haram insurgency for about a decade.

4. Six die in fresh gunmen attack in Plateau state

Another six persons were in the early hours of Sunday, reportedly killed in an early morning attack on Rahwol-Fwi village, a community in Fan District of Plateau state.

The fresh attack, which an eyewitness said lasted for almost an hour before the intervention of the military, also had a Church, its pastorium, Government Hospital and 17 houses burnt.

5. 32 Boko Haram fighters surrender to Nigerian Army

32 Boko Haram terrorists have willingly surrendered themselves to troops at different locations in Borno, the Nigerian Army says.

The surrendered terrorists are said to be undergoing interrogations and would be handed over to appropriate authorities at the right time.

6. nPDP to take decision on APC this week

The leaders and members of the New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) bloc within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will make their final decision on their membership of the APC known this week.

The leader of the bloc, Mr. Abubakar Kawu Baraje, dropped the hint in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital yesterday, while speaking with journalists on the state of the country.

7. Bode George visits Obasanjo in Abeokuta

A former National Deputy Chairman, South-west, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has declared that the rift between him and former President Olusegun Obasanjo has ended and expressed happiness and satisfaction that he reconciled with his former boss.

He made the disclosure yesterday when he led 10 of his loyal associates on “a thank-you” visit to Obasanjo in Abeokuta.

8. INEC warns over attempts to sell PVCs online

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has received reports of attempts to clone Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and sell them online.

INEC, in a statement it issued on Sunday, said it “had anticipated these and proactively taken measures to preserve and further secure our electoral materials.”

9. Dino Melaye demands removal of IGP over Plateau killings

The Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has condemned, in strong terms, the killing of over 200 people in some communities in Plateau State.

He has also called on President Muhamnadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, replace the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.

10. Spain and Denmark crash out as Russia and Croatia make World cup progress

Russia, the 2018 World Cup host, stunned Spain on Sunday, defeating them on penalties for a place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Likewise, the game between Croatia and Denmark was decided via penalty kicks after the game ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation and extra time.
