World Cup Result Update: France 4-3 Argentina; Uruguay 2-1 Portugal

The Portuguese team are the latest to be shown the way out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, after they fell to the determined Uruguay side.

France End Argentina’s Dream

Meanwhile, in a game that called for massive number of goals, France has ended the quest of the Argentina team as they won 4-3 in a very competitive show down.

Messi could not help helpless Argentina circumvent the hurdle of giving answers to Kylian Mbappe two goals.

The game is remarkable in the career of the Paris Germain forward, as  he became the youngest player since Pele in 1958 to score two goals in a World Cup match.

“I’m very happy and it’s flattering to be the second teenager (to score twice in the knock-out rounds) after Pele but let’s put things in context: Pele is another category, but it’s good to be among these people”, Mbappe said after the match.

France started the goal rain in the 19th minute after Antoine Griezmann converted a penalty kick. Di Maria equalizer and Gabriel Marcado’s strike gave the south American side the lead until the 57th Minute when Benjamin Pavard brought France back to level term with Argentina.

Sergio Aguero’s goal in the 93rd minute was not enough to redeem Argentina, as Kylian Mbappe two goals was all France needed to move to the quarter-final of the competition.
