Poju Oyemade’s Tweet On Prayer Raises Question

The tweet of Poju Oyemade, the Senior Pastor of Covenant Christian Centre, has caused the social media followers of the pastor to share their view about his tweet on Friday.

Oyemade, who is also the convener, The Platform Nigeria, had tweeted: “If we keep resorting to religious explanations for our practical problems we will not progress as a nation. The main purpose of prayer is to hear from God. He gives you instructions on what to do. It’s our doing something that changes things. Prayer by itself won’t, action does.”

God must be speaking both sides of His mouth then when He speaks of Faith (Prayer) and works. For "faith without works is dead being alone" He says. Maybe you should direct your complaint to God.

That is what he is saying, we don't pray to God and go and sit down, we pray to God to get instructions on what we need to do, then CARRY OUT these practical instructons to effect this change we want to see in the country.

Its just unfortunate. Nigeria wants to play Argentina, its prayer, Truck fell off Ojuelega TWICE, its prayer again. Now a tanker exploded, killing people and destroying properties, its still prayer. God has given us the solution ages ago. Simple implementation is the problem

The problems of misconception,misinterpretation and misrepresentation of religious injunctions are compounding Nigeria's problems. We see them in violent extremism and neglect of the needful. We can't spend all the time praying without do things that should effect our prayers.
