Current Serie A champions, Juventus have completed the £35m (€40m/$46m) signing of Portuguese international defender, Joao Cancelo from Valencia.

The 24-year old, signed a five-year contract with Juventus after undergoing a medical on Wednesday. He can operate on the right of defence or midfield.

Inter had the option to buy Cancelo who spent the 2017-18 season on loan with them, making 26 league appearances but the Nerazzurri didn’t activate the option until Juventus swooped in on the player.

Valencia signed Cancelo from Benfica in August 2014, initially on a season-long loan before making the switch permanent the following year.

Reacting to joining the Seria A champions, Cancelo told Juve’s website; “It is a dream to be at this great club, representing one of the biggest European clubs makes me very happy.”

“Juventus have so many great players, so I don’t want to single out one individual. You have to be a great player to be in a team like this.

“I hope they can help me to achieve success both on an individual and collective level.

“[Coach Massimiliano] Allegri told me he thought I would soon meet up with the rest of the squad, he wants me to give the club a hand to continue the success they had in recent years.”
