Politician Claims His Office Robbery Is Due To His Political Ambition

The office of an Ogun State politician, Adepeju Akinyemi, on NBC Road, Ebute, Ikorodu, Lagos State, has been reported to have been burgled by some hoodlums.

Report has it that the incident happened in the ealry hours of Tuesday, June 19. Akinyemi, while speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, said he had resumed work for business when he observed that his office had been broken into.

He said, “The robbers broke down my door because the key was too strong for them. When I entered, I realised that they had carted away a lot of things, including my laptop, television and speakers. In fact, they ransacked the whole office and scattered my things. I used the stolen equipment for Ikorodu Oga Radio, an online community station I have been running for about two years.

“They also attempted to enter my neighbour’s flat, but were unable to gain access because of the high fence and iron door that separated us. It is devastating; but as an entrepreneur, my spirit is not broken.”

The Ogun State House of Assembly aspirant said he believed the attack was due to his political ambition, He decried the condition of the country’s security and asked the Lagos State Government to beef up security in the area.

The case is said to have been reported at the Ipakodo Police Station and a sergeant was assigned to inspect the scene of the incident.

“The sergeant made a very strong statement that it’s been a recurrent experience in the area. Two shops of some Ibo boys selling rice were burgled not too long ago. A pastor was even robbed of his valuables in that area,” he added.
