1. Buhari sends federal government delegation to Bauchi over windstorm

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, to lead a Federal Government delegation immediately to Bauchi State in the aftermath of the windstorm which destroyed an estimated 1505 houses mainly in the state capital.

Azare, another major town was struck by a major fire disaster that destroyed the market in the town a few days after.

2. Nobody can intimidate me – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has declared that nobody can intimidate him ahead of the 2019 general election in Nigeria.

He said this while speaking to members of his Coalition for Nigeria movement(CNM), pointing out that God who helped Nigeria against the government of late Sani Abacha will come to Nigeria’s aid in 2019.

3. Nigerian immigration deploys officers to prevent foreigners from voting in 2019

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has banned all foreigners from participating in the forthcoming elections, and deployed its personnel to monitor all electoral activities in the country.

The Comptroller General of NIS, Muhammad Babandede, who made this disclosure in reaction to some media reports alleging possible registration of foreigners by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2019 elections.

4. Nigerian Army arrests killer of Ortom’s aide, Igbana

The Military Operation in Benue state, code named: ‘Operation Whirl Storm (OPWS)’, has revealed that its operation that cut across Benue and Nasarawa States has ensured the arrest of the suspected killer of Denen Igbana an aide to Governor Samuel Ortom, in 2016.

Major General Adeyemi Yekini, the Force Commander, OPWS made this known during his interactions with newsmen in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

5. Ekiti house of assembly deputy speaker dumps PDP for APC

Mr. Adeniran Alagbada, a People Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Ise/Orun Constituency has decamped from his party and has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The House Deputy Leader declared his defection to the APC at a news conference in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, Alagbada said the people of his constituency are in support of his decision to dump the PDP.

6. FG to set up cattle ranches in Oyo, Benue and eight other states

The Federal Government and states have agreed to set up cattle ranches in 10 states — Adamawa, Benue, Ebonyi, Edo, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba and Zamfara to end herders, farmers’ crisis in the country.

N70bn would be spent in the first three years of the pilot phase of the programme.

7. Timi Frank advises Buhari against ignoring nPDP

A former national youth leader of the nPDP, Timi Frank, has warned President Buhari against the dangers of ignoring the nPDP members.

He said there has been no official communication of the President’s position to the nPDP.

8. World Bishops appeal to Buhari over five men sentenced to death for killing of herdsman

The Supreme Council of Bishops, also referred to as World Council of Bishops, has written President Muhammadu Buhari, pleading for pardon for five young men sentenced to death by a court in Adamawa for the killing of a herdsman.

The letter was routed through the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha.

9. Gov. Ortom insists Minister of defence, Dan-Ali must apologize to Nigerians

Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue state, has called on Mansur Dan-Ali, minister of defense, to apologize to Nigerians for asking that the anti-grazing law be suspended.

Ortom said this at an event on Tuesday to showcase the national livestock transformation plan by the office of the vice-president, warning that those in government should be cautious as regards the crisis.

10. Senegal defeats Poland to record Africa’s first victory in 2018 World Cup

The Teranga Lions of Senegal have renewed hope for Africa as the African Team won it opener against Poland 2-1 in group H, making it the first African Team to win a match in the world cup so far.

The West African team led by two goals before Poland scored in the 86th minute but Senegal held on to win the match.
