1. President Buhari may sign 2018 budget on Wednesday

A presidential source has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari will sign the 2018 budget into law on Wednesday by 11am.

Two weeks ago, Udoma Udoma, minister of budget and national planning, said the president had not signed the budget because he was still studying it.

2. Atiku urges APC to accept defeat if they lose Ekiti elections

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has told the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Fayemi, to prepare for his defeat at the July 14 governorship election.

Mr Abubakar, who spoke in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Monday, said the APC should be ready to accept defeat in Ekiti if it loses just as former President Goodluck Jonathan did in 2015.

3. President Buhari to shun meeting with nPDP members

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he will never sit down for discussion with the aggrieved members of the defunct new Peoples Democratic Party that joined forces to form the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The source who disclosed the information, said Buhari had conveyed his position on the matter to state governors elected on the platform of the APC during a meeting he had with them recently.

4. FG to close land borders to protect local rice production

The federal government has decided to shut the land border between Nigeria and a neigbour country in order to protect the local production of rice in the country.

Audu Ogbeh, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, made the disclosure in Abuja on Monday.

5. NAF deploys helicopter to battle insecurity in Zamfara state

The Nigerian Air Force has deployed two attack helicopters to its base in Zamfara State to tackle banditry and killings reported in about five Local Government Areas of the state.

The helicopters were received at the NAF 207 Quick Response Group, Gusau, on Monday and by the Commander, Group Captain Caleb Olayera, who noted that the air assets would help in tracking and arresting criminal elements disturbing the state.

6. Up to 1,500 Nigerians are in Italian prisons

Not fewer that 1500 Nigerians are serving jail terms for various offences in Italy,Italian ambassador to Nigeria, Stefanou Pontesilli, has said.

He however denied reports that Italy sometimes send Nigerian migrants from Italy to Libya.

7. Boko Haram fighters celebrate sallah in Sambisa forest

A new video has emerged showing the Boko Haram insurgents celebrating Sallah in Sambisa forest; holding prayers, with guards wielding rifles.

In the five minutes, 17 seconds video, the insurgents were heard thanking their God for a successful Ramadan, and warning infidels to prepare for more attacks.

8. Cholera outbreak kills 10 in Niger state

Suleiman Sheshi, the Secretary of the Bida Local Government Area in Niger State, on monday confirmed that 10 persons have lost their lives in Cholera attack in the area.

He further stated that Umaru Sanda General Hospital in Bida has recorded 60 cases so far.

9. Adamawa state declares 3-days mourning for late chief of staff

Adamawa state governor, Jibrilla Bindow, has declared a three days mourning for his late Chief of Staff, Alh. Abdulrahaman Abba Jimeta who died on Monday while on lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.

A statement by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ahmad Sajoh confirmed that Jimeta was on lesser hajj when the sad event happened.

10. Saudi Arabia’s world cup plane catches fire in the air

Saudi Arabia’s official team plane caught fire in mid air, as they travelled to their next 2018 World Cup match.

The Saudi Football Federation however revealed no casualty was recorded as all players and officials are now safe in their residence.
