An armed robbery suspect with a gun has been arrested by the Operatives of Iju Police Division (Red House Police Station).

Reports have it that Popoola Tobi, the 25 years old suspect, was arrested at about 11.40 am on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 while he and four other suspected gang member were heading for a robbery operation.

The suspects was arrested within a play ground close to a Catholic Church in Fagba area of Iju, he reside at 4 Ogun Street, Station Bus stop, Iju-Ishaga.

Naija News gathered that Four other suspected members of the gang escaped when they sighted the police.

One locally made pistol, hard drugs such as SK and Indian hemp are some of the items recovered from the bag of the suspect.

Chike Oti, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police, Lagos Command, stated that the arrested was effected by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) SP Eheinde and his team comprising of Inspector Adeniken Benson Ade.

Oti stated that efforts are in motion to apprehend the four other suspects, adding that the arrested suspect and exhibits have been transferred to the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad(FSARS) for further investigation.

Armed robbers and cultists, have, in recent times infested the Iju-Ishaga, a Logos suburb.

Daily Independent reports that most of these hoodlums came to the community from neighbouring Ogun State to commit all manner of crimes and thereafter escape back to Ogun State.
