Nigerian Women Display Heroic Act In India, Overpowering Men Who Attempted To Rape Them
The Times of India reports that the unnamed Nigerians are students of Loyola college and Madras Christian colleges in India.
They were reportedly walking to their rented accommodation when two men accosted them and tried to molest them, after which a fight followed as well as screams of help.
Their cries for help attracted people to the scene and on seeing this, the assailants tried to flee but the two women gave the men a hot chase.
Few passersby also helped them to outrun and overpower the men before a police patrol team arrived the scene.
The two women sought the help of officials at the Nigerian embassy, saying they were set to leave for home soon after completing their studies.
Santhosh Haidmeni, Kancheepuram district superintendent of police, said the accused were in custody and they will be jailed on Wednesday .
He said, “The police registered a case against the men under IPC 354 (a): assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty; 323: attack with hands; 294 (b): abusing and 506 (II): criminal intimidation, apart from Section 4 of Tamil Nadu women harassment prevention act.
“A magistrate court is set to send them to jail on Wednesday.”
