1. President Buhari returns to Abuja from Morocco

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, returned to the country after concluding a 2-day working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The President, during his visit held talks with his Moroccan counterpart and signed bilateral deals including a gas pipeline deal.

2. FG declares Friday and Monday as public holidays

The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 15, and Monday, June 18 as public holiday to celebrate the 2018 Eid-El-Fitr.

The Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau made the declaration on Monday in Abuja on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement issued by Dr M. Umar the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.

3. June 12: Al-Mustapha reveals how Abiola was killed

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, in a recent interview spoke on the death of late Chief MKO Abiola and how those who killed him shared million of dollars.

Mustapha claimed that some leaders of NADECO went to Aso-rock to collect millions of dollars from the head of state barely 24 hrs after Abiola’s death.

4. Nigeria celebrates June 12 election 25 years after

Nigeria and Nigerians are today, commemorating the 25th year anniversary of the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential elections in Nigeria.

The date has already been declared as democracy day by President Muhammadu Buhari.

5. PDP denies choosing 2019 presidential candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday denied reports that key leaders of the party had endorsed one of its presidential aspirants as candidate for the 2019 elections.

The party made the denial in a statement issued by its National Organising Secretary, Austin Akobundu, in Abuja.

6. Osinbajo to hold thanksgiving service after escaping helicopter crash

A 120-hour thanksgiving is been planned to thank God for saving Vice President Osinbajo from a helicopter plan crash on June 7.

This was disclosed by the chaplain of the Aso Rock Villa yesterday.

7. Humphrey Nwosu says he would be absent from Abiola’s GCFR investiture

Chairman of the National Electoral Commission (NEC),Humphrey Nwosu, which conducted the June 12, 1993 election, says he will be absent at MKO Abiola’sGCFR investiture due to his absence from the country.

Nwosu who is among the guest invited to grace the occasion, communicated this to Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation.

8. Army fights off Boko Haram attack in Adamawa

Some members of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group were reported to have attacked and destroyed 13 houses on Monday in Kaya village, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The military and vigilance group were reported to have repelled the attack, killing one member of the sect and inflicting injury on another.

9. Super Falcons qualify for African Women Nations cup

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), with a 6-0 emphatic victory over Gambia in their second leg clash, at the Agege Stadium on Monday.

The Falcons had earlier defeated the Gambians 1-0 in the first leg of the qualifiers.

10. Super Eagles arrive in Russia

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Russia ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The players and coaches landed in their Essentuki base late on Monday night at about 11pm Nigerian time.

Their arrival time was affected by slight delays in their flight from Austria, where they had been training.
