For the the June 12, Democracy Day investiture, which would feature the bestowing of the posthumous award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the presumed winner of the June 12 presidential election, late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola by President Muhammadu Buhari, dignitaries have been making their way into the Presidential Villa.

The ceremony which would hold inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa,Abuja at 10:00am.

MKO Abiola running mate in the botched presidential election Baba Gana Kingibe, would also be honoured with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) by the President.

Buhari will equally bestow the GCON on the late human rights lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi.

June 12, according to President Buhari’s order will officially become a national public holiday from next year and probably take the place of May 29th, Democracy Day.

General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, self-styled Military head of state, 25 years ago, annulled the June 12, 1993 presidential election which was adjudged as one of the freest and fairest in the nation’s history.

The Nation reports that prominent figures that featured in the struggle for the actualization of June 12 were already seated at the banquet hall.

Among those spotted by our reporter includes Femi Falana, a former Senator, Jonathan Zwingina, Frank Ovie- Kokori, scion of the late human rights lawyer, Muhammed Gani Fawehimi, among other notable figures.
