1. President Buhari arrives Morocco on 2-days working visit

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Morocco, ahead of a two-day working visit to the country.

The visit, which is at the invitation of His Royal Majesty, King Mohammed VI, will see the two leaders discuss socio-economic matters affecting their countries.

2. Donald Duke declares interest in 2019 presidential election

Former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has formally declared his intention to contest in the 2019 presidential election.

The 57-year-old made the announcement during an interview with Deutsche Welle Africa on Friday, June 8, 2018, without disclosing the platform he’ll use to contest.

3. Nurse remanded for alleged involvement in Senator Adeleke’s death

An Osun State High Court sitting in Ede has ordered that Mr Alfred Aderibigbe, the nurse who administered the drugs which allegedly killed Senator Isiaka Adeleke, be remanded in custody.

According to a statement on Sunday by the Press Officer, Osun State Ministry of Justice, Mr. Opeyemi Bello, the nurse, who was arraigned on murder before Justice Ayo Oyebiyi on Friday pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

4. One killed, several injured in Boko Haram bomb blast

A bomb explosion reportedly occurred at a dump site at Mubi on Sunday, killing one person and injuring two others.

The bomb which was reportedly buried by suspected Boko Haram terrorists occurred some minutes after 2pm on Sunday as a some boys scavenging at the dump site dug out the unsuspecting bomb which subsequently exploded with them.

5. Methodist priest, two others kidnapped by herdsmen in Osun

Gun carrying hoodlums suspected to be herdsmen, on Sunday, abducted a Methodist Church priest, Very Reverend Kayode Akande, and two other prominent leaders of the church on their way from Ile-Ogbo, a community near Iwo township in Osun State.

They were said to have been whisked away by the herdsmen, along Iwo-Osogbo road around 7.10 pm as they were coming back to Osogbo, the state capital.

6. Opeyemi Bamidele appointed as campaign director for Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti state

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, on Sunday announced ailing chieftain of the party, Mr Opeyemi Bamidele, as the Director General of the governorship campaign of the party’s candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

He was said to have accepted his nomination into the position before the incident.

7. APC begins screening for its aspirants today

The screening for prospective aspirants begins today as members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) get set to occupy 60 available positions at the June 23 national convention where the National Executive Committee (NEC) members will be elected.

The convention is expected to usher in new leadership for the APC.

8. Police confirm one dead in Maiduguri blast

The police in Borno state at the weekend confirmed that one person was killed as a result of a suicide bomb attack at Post Office Area of Maiduguri, the state capital.

Police spokesman at the state Command, DSP Edet Okon, confirmed in a statement that on Saturday at about 7:15pm, a male suicide bomber who was heading towards Monday Market, detonated his device on sighting the massive Police deployment at Oando petrol station in Post Office area of Maiduguri Metropolis, killing only himself.

9. Lagos, Ogun, Osun declares June 12 public holiday

The state governments of Lagos, Ogun and Osun, have declared Tuesday, June 12 as a public holiday in their respective states.

This is to mark the 25th anniversary of the cancelled 1993 Presidential elections won by the late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO)Abiola.

10. Reggae artist, Ras Kimono is dead

Nigerian reggae artist, Ras Kimono whose real name is Ukeleke Onwubya, was rushed to a hospital in Ikoyi after he slumped on Saturday.

He later died in the hospital on Sunday 10th June 2018 in Lagos Nigeria.
