Dog On Rampage Attacks 3 People, Livestock

Rabid Dog Causes Fear In Kebbi Village

There is confusion among people of Basaura town in Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi, as a dog, said to be on rampage has attacked three villagers and livestock in the town.

This was made known by the state Director, Veterinary and Public Health, Dr Ahmad Ambursa to the News men in Birnin Kebbi today.

An unknown dog was reported to have attacked residents and livestock in Basaura village of Jega Local Government Area.

“The dog injured three persons and livestock in the area as a result of its spree – bites, ” he said.

He said the victims had been admitted to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Earlier, a team of veterinary doctors, led by Dr Ahmad Muhammad, visited the village where the incident happened for confirmation on getting the report.

The team was received by the District Head of Basaura, Alhaji Muhammad Buhari, who told members that they weren’t aware of where the dog usually comes from, stating that it had been attacking villagers and livestock.

“The dog was killed and burnt to ashes by youths in the area,” he said.

Reacting, Dr Muhammad told the district head that the team was in the palace to teach and sensitize villagers of rabbies and ways to prevent it.

The team also went to the place the dog was murdered and burnt to perform necessary actions.
