The Senate, today confirmed the appointment of Hon. Justice Adamu Abdu-Kafarati as the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

This follows the consideration and adoption of the report of its Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters in accordance with the provision of Section 250(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As amended) by Senator.

The Senate had earlier dissolved into the Committee of the Whole for the consideration of the report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters on the confirmation of the appointment of Hon. Justice Abdu-Kafarati as the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

The Senators returned to plenary after the consideration and thereafter confirmed Hon. Justice Adamu Abdu-Kafarati as the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

Speaking thereafter, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, while congratulating Kafarati, urged him to ensure the rule of law.

“Thank you Distinguished colleagues for your effort and commitment. I want to congratulate the new Chief Judge of Federal High Court, and to urge him to ensure the rule of law is established and to live above any suspicion.”
